Rainy day in Chi-town

Hi everyone! Thanks to those of you who been checking in on my brand spankin new blog.... I can't believe I've only been doing this for about 30 hours, I'm already having so much fun with it! I think the husband is a bit relieved that I no longer have to hassle him with all of my excitement about running, etc, and that I can write about it on here, instead ;)

When I was training for my first day full marathons in 2007, I relied on a ton of the Chicago Marathon Facebook group where I found a great deal of advice and emotional support from other marathon runners. However, I searched pretty extensively and was unable to find any blogs that focused on the training experience, especially one that was specifically for the Chicago Marathon. That's how I decided to somewhat hone in on the topic of the marathon, and of course fundraising for an awesome charity in the process.

However, I'd love to hear what you guys think about this! I'm loving the blog experience so far and would be happy to write about any other topics that you are interested in reading about. Would anyone care to read about anything else such as:

* My experience marrying into a Greek family - lots of wild and crazy stories there! :)

* Social work

* All of the fabulous things there are to do in Chicago in the summertime

* Books - I love em!!

* My cooking and baking exploits and adventures

*

In the meantime, I'm certainly going to keep the discussion going about my marathon training and what it takes to prepare to run 26.2 miles! I hope that this can be a good resource for anyone who is currently training themselves, and especially I would love to inspire someone out there - who may currently be on the fence about doing one - to finally follow their dreams of completing a marathon! It's an incredible, indescribable feeling to complete a marathon, and the cool thing is that the journey truly is just as great as the accomplishment of the actual race day.

Also, is anyone interested in my marathon nutrition/diet?? I would be happy to get more into that as well, and I would even be willing to dust off my ole' camera to put some pix on here. Proper marathon training is huge, and while I am not a certified nutritional expert by any means, I have researched the subject heavily and I am always trying to stay on top of this.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts about this and look forward to reading your comments and emails!

  3. I love your blog! I would love for you to mention motivational music you listen to. I have to listen to music when I workout and I am just sick of listening to the same old workout music. I need new fun, up beat, music to listen to while I workout and get back in shape with running. Any advice or help is so much appreciated!!! Miss ya!

  4. Hi! I came across your blog after reading Mia {runs and rests} and RoseyRebecca's. I'd love to read about your marathon training since I'm preparing for my third as well (I'm finally going to stick to a schedule since I slacked off a bit on my first two)! Can't wait to read more about your running and cooking adventures :)
